I am writing to share news that Lisa Winick has made a decision to step away from her role as Chief Advancement Officer now that Milton’s Dare capital campaign and our master plan construction efforts are concluded. Soon, we will begin working on our next strategic plan and the launch of a new capital campaign. Lisa feels the moment is right for her to consider her next professional opportunity.

Lisa will remain in her role through the end of June, leading the successful completion of the Milton Fund’s 2023–24 fundraising and overseeing Reunion weekend. We will move quickly to launch a national search for Lisa’s successor. Carol Giusti-Cahalane, director of development, will lead the department in the interim.

I want to thank Lisa for her contributions to Milton. She has been running our Alumni and Development Office since 2013, surpassing fundraising goals every year under her leadership. During her tenure, she has partnered with our Board of Trustees, our Leadership Team, Todd Bland as the former head of school, and now me, in pushing Milton forward to achieve our fundraising potential. One of the signature accomplishments during Lisa’s time at Milton was the successful completion of the Dare campaign, the school’s first comprehensive capital campaign. The campaign launched in 2013 and concluded in June 2020—at the height of a global pandemic. Despite this unprecedented challenge, the campaign surpassed the school’s ambitious $175 million goal, raising $183 million. The Dare campaign has been critical to Milton’s success both now and moving into the future because it supports the pillars of our 2013 strategic plan. These included endowment funds supporting student financial aid, faculty compensation, academic enhancement, and professional development initiatives, and capital funding for our master plan (which allowed us to build the Berylson Turf Field, improve Ware Hall, move Cox Library to Wigglesworth Hall, and create the upcoming Farokhzad Mathematics Center, among others). At the same time, she and her team also continued to push the Milton Fund to new heights.

Please join me in thanking Lisa for all she has done for Milton and in wishing her well.

Sincerely,

Alixe Callen ‘88
Head of School
